J Dilla "Trucks" [Mixed & Mastered Version]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Yes, I'm sure all fellow Dilla stans have had this track since '08 (Pay Jay), but with the upcoming release of J Dilla's long lost vocal album, The Diary, we now have an official version straight from the multi-track masters found on 2-inch tape shortly after Dilla's passing. Recorded from December 01-February 02 at Studio A in Detroit, the track gets new life with its' release on the "Anthem" 12" (now available for purchase). "Trucks" was mixed by Dave Cooley, who worked extensively with Dilla during his years in L.A. With the purchase you also get Dilla's original mix which has an alternate version of Dilla's vocals and a third verse not found on Dilla's final sessions for this song. Turn that system up and let this one bump one time for your man Jay Dee. Look for The Diary to drop next year on PayJay Productions. Photo: J Dilla with the “Dillalade” circa early 2002 (props to Jeff Jank).
