Jamie Foxx-Produced Marvin Gaye Series Receives Blessings From Estate and Barry Gordy

"This project will be a powerful and definitive telling of Marvin Gaye's life story"

Many have tried, but absolutely no one has succeeded in forging the big or little screen adaptation of Marvin Gaye's life story. But according to a report from Billboard, Jamie Foxx has joined the effort to bring this thing home once and for all. Foxx signed on as executive producer of a still unnamed Marvin Gaye series being developed by de Passe Jones Entertainment with Gaye's son, Marvin Gaye III consulting on the series.

The project has received the blessing of both the singer's estate and Berry Gordy, which means that original compositions will be included in the production. And though no release schedule has been revealed just yet, the news alone is enough to warrant some very reasonable excitement. The last time a biopic treatment of any sort came down the pipeline, Jesse L. Martinwas in the hot seat for the role of the iconic singer and Motown man. A trailer was cut, but the film was never released. You can watch that down below as we await more details on this project.
