Janelle Monáe Unleashes Her Inner Busker, Performs "Dance Apocalyptic" Live w/ Street Musicians
Janelle Monáe made the days (or perhaps years) of some BK street musicians as she sat in and provided a star-powered accompaniment to their rendition of "Dance Apocalyptic" live. A not-so chosen few, were given the opportunity to spectate as The Electric Lady crept up on the rag-tag crew in a Greenpoint park, putting their buskin' spin on her triumphant foot-mover. In one slippery slide, we see the unsuspecting troupe catch on to the fact that the high-voltage performer had joined their curbside crusade for a cut of her own track that left them and the audience seeing little robots doing the mashed-potato.
After gifting us with some visuals for her album's title track just last month, it's certainly nice to see Monae keeping the funk in people's eyes and ears, with or without her band in tow. You can cop her exceptional Electric Lady LP on iTunes today, which features collaborations with A-listers like Prince, Solange, Esperanza Spalding and Miguel. Watch Janelle Monáe and her new street performing crew prove she doesn't need a stage to rock, as they churn-out a righteous cut of "Dance Apocalyptic" below. Keep your to the ground for more rumblings from the queen of the scene.
