Jay Rock Cooks Up Some Lyrical "Gumbo" On His Hazy New Cut
Jay Rock, one of TDE's hardest hitting MCs, has been popping up all over as of late. Whether it be rocking in a tire-less hooptie in the stunning video for label-mate Kendrick Lamar's turn-up-for-life anthem "Alright," or spitting daggers on his own recent heaters like the "Money Trees" sequel or performing his much-too-tuff single "Pay For It" with K Dot on SNL, it's clear that the Top Dawg vet is and may always be a lyrical force to be reckoned with. Today, a day when many of us are enjoying the fruits (and hopefully some veggies too) of America's born day, Rock has let loose a little something for the picnic table vibes; a hazy, syrupy, wah-guitar-infused heater he likes to call "Gumbo," chock-full of lyrical salts and peppers for the seasoned palette to rock with. It's yet another savory sonic that will hopefully be included on his recently confirmed forthcoming sophomore LP, an anxiously awaited follow-up to 2011's Follow Me Home. No word on when we can expect that, but late 2015 is looking ripe for the release. Keep your eyes and ears on us for the word, but until then, get your fill of Jay Rock's "Gumbo" below.
