Jay Z and the Weinstein Co. have acquired the rights to two books centered on Trayvon Martin, with plans to film a feature film and docuseries.
The two books are Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It, written by attorney Lisa Bloom, and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin, which was authored by Trayvon's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.
Suspicion mostly was a fact-based book that covered the trial, while Rest in Power was a loving, intimate profile about their son Trayvon and how the case affected their family.
This news comes just a day after part four of the six-part docuseries The Kalief Browder Story aired. Jay Z and Weinstein were the producers behind that project too.
It's fascinating watching Jay work and seeing the kind of stories he's interested in telling.
