At this point, we've heard Drake's "Hotline Bling" in damn-near every imaginable way. There was the one that started it all (cough, Erykah, cough,) then everyone from Alessia Cara to Sam Smith to Sufjan Stevens to Anthony Hamilton followed suit. But what if, someway, somehow, a freshly-electric Bob Dylan pulled a Marty McFly and covered the dippin' and dabbin' anthem back in his hey day? What if I told you needed not a flux capacitor nor the force of 1.21 gigawatts to realize that fantastic dream?
Last night, Jimmy Fallon brought back his all-too-proper Dylan impression to give Drake's hit a go in a very retro way. The Tonight Show host pulled out all of the stops in his recreation, even shooting the clip through a grainy, Scorsese-doing-The-Last-Waltz-styled lens. And we'd be failing you if we didn't bring it to your attention. Watch a freewheelin' Jimmy Fallon harness his Bob Dylan and deliver the brilliant, folk-styled cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling" that you never knew you always needed on The Tonight Show. This may just be the best one yet.
