Former vice-president Joe Biden doubled down on his stance at a Las Vegas town hall meeting.

Democratic presidential candidates continue to draw their lines in the sand regarding marijuana legalization. On Saturday, Joe Biden reiterated his anti-legalization stance.

Biden says: "there's not been nearly enough evidence that has been acquired as to whether or not it is a gateway drug. It's a debate, and I want a lot more before I legalize it nationally. I want to make sure we know a lot more about the science behind it."

Subsequently, Biden clarified that he wanted to leave the decisions up to state governments. He has supported the use of medical marijuana and recently argued in favor of decriminalization. His recent shift in tone is part of an effort to repent on past policy decisions that increased mass incarceration related to the war on drugs.
