Joey Bada$$ - "Hillary Swank" [Official Video]
Okay. Late pa$$. When this new Joey Bada$$ joint dropped, we were obviously too busy celebrating the introduction of syphillis to Europe and whatnot (true story). There's only but so long you can front on a prime Pro Era track produced by the one Lee Bannon, however, particularly when its a standout track from Joey's Summer Knights mixtape/FreEP, which was clearly a standout release of the long, strange Summer of 2013. Feel-wise, the Bannon track recalls the hell outta the intro to that classic Madlib/DOOM track Blue Note allowed to happen. But Joey takes it somewhere else lyrically and manages to embody and represent both the skill and stream of consciousness spontaneity we associate with 90s golden era hip-hop--rather than just emulate it. Watch below and look for Summer Knights EP to hit iTunes on October 29th in a new and improved form "featuring bonus joint w/ the zombies, UA & Chuck Strangers & a Rmx of MY Yout featuring Maverick Sabre."
