John Legend Lulls On NPR's Tiny Desk Concert

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

John Legend dropped by NPR's offices to lull the small crowd with a few acoustic treatments of his more recent releases on the newest episode of Tiny Desk Concerts. Legend sat behind a baby grand and delivered some impressive renditions of his lovely gospel-infused ballads, starting with "Made To Love." After belting out his warm baritone on MTL, Legend dove into "Move," a track that was written for the powerful film 12 Years A Slave, the soundtrack of which was executive produced by Legend. He attributes his involvement with the film to his participation with Henry Louis Gates Jr's PBS special Finding Your Roots, during which he discovered that his own family's history paralleled the narrative of the film.

After explaining his connection with the film and the song , Legend brings out an accompanying guitarist to navigate the heavy and emotional landscape that the song falls along. After churning out "Move" and a quick mic adjustment, the balladeer drops head first into "All Of Me," an intimate love song that caps off his Tiny Desk performance. You can watch John Legend hit all the right notes on the latest installment of NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts below.
