John Legend Talks 10 Years In The Business + His Big Hit "All Of Me"
John Legend recently sat for a behind-the-scenes chat with Billboard to discuss the decade he's spent in the business and how the heartfelt love ballad "All Of Me" - a track inspired by his wife Chrissy Teigen - from his Love In The Future LP became the biggest hit of his career:
“I told my label early on that this could be the biggest song of my career if we don’t mess it up,”
Discussing what makes the track so unique, he continued:
“People are used to music that makes them dance. But every once in a while, you want to hear something that pierces your heart.”
John Legend also talks about frequent collaborators Kanye West and Dave Tozer and how their combined musical tastes and interests affect the music they make together. He also details his experience at helm as the curator of the soundtrack for filmmaker Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave, which recently won the award for Best Picture at the 86th Academy Awards.
