Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Have Been Hard At Work on a '20/20 Experience' Follow-Up
"This stuff feels more like it just punches you between the eyes”
On his debut album Justified, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell's chemistry proved to be undeniable. The pairing of Neptunes productions with Timberlake's r&b aptitude was a major score for all parties involved, even if some of the source material was initially intended for a star like Michael Jackson.
Now nearly 15 years down the line, Timberlake has evolved into a multi-threat talent, spanning stage, big and small screens alike. This weekend the animated film Trolls will hit theaters with Timberlake voicing the lead. But a new interview with Variety sheds light on the next page of JT's musical career, and it already sounds promising as he reveals that he and Skateboard P are back at it in the studio crafting heat for your radio dial.
Pharrell tells them, "Songwise, I think we’ve got a good solid six that are like, ‘Whoa, what was that? Play that again." And while no timeline for any release can be derived from the profile piece, just the thought of new Justin Timberlake and Pharrell concoctions is enough to pique the interests of the masses and have us hoping we're not too far out from a glimpse. Their last collaboration arrived with "Brand New," an energetic standout from Pharrell's sophomore solo album, GIRL. And if that's any indication of what we can expect from a new collaborative piece, it'll be worth the wait.
