Kandace Springs Invokes "West Coast" Vibes On New Single

Kandace Springs returns to debut the new single "Forbidden Fruit" from her forthcoming self-titled EP, arriving this month via Blue Note Records. The haunting track is a slow-burning lullaby packed with the same kind of mysticism that first endeared Sade fans to the Love Deluxe standout "Like A Tattoo." Springs' latest offering channels a host of influences, from the Brand New Heavies to the celebrated Black Jazz catalog, all in one intricately sewn and enveloping patchwork of sound. The track produced by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken follows the single "West Coast" and the premiere of the official video for "Stay With Me." Kandace Springs leads the production, doing double duty on vocals and the fender rhodes. She is joined by cellist Dave Eggar and violinist Entcho Todorov, who combine to round out the recording with a breathtaking string arrangement. "Forbidden Fruit" is the latest from Kandace Springs following a stellar showing at the 2014 Afropunk Fest and bodes well for what's to come with a hypnotic sound that will undoubtedly compel fans to wind it back and take another bite.
