Kanye West Credited As Collaborator On Drake's "Two Birds One Stone"
As Drake and Kid Cudi's beef continues to develop, a look on Tidal shows that Drake's diss song "Two Birds, One Stone" was co-written and produced by Cudi's friend and frequent collaborator Kanye West.
The credit appears on Tidal, where Kanye is listed as a composer, lyricist, and producer.
"Two Birds, One Stone" was one of four songs Drake premiered on Sunday during an episode of OVO Sound Radio, where he revealed a new project called More Life scheduled for a December release.
The song was the latest in a brewing feud between the two. In September, Cudi used his Twitter to diss Drake and Kanye for "talking top 5" despite "having 30 people write songs for them." But in more recent weeks, Cudi revealed in a moving letter on Facebook that he was getting professional help to address suicidal thoughts.
"Two Birds, One stone" was seen by many as a low blow by Drake, as he name dropped Cudi's debut album and seemed to poke fun at his mental illness. "You were the main on the moon, now you just go through your phases. Life of the angry and famous," Drake raps. He added, "(I have) still never been on hiatus. You xann'd and perk'd up, so when reality set in, you don't gotta face it." Cudi has since tweeted Drake again, calling him names and telling him to "say it to my face."
Kanye initially shot back at Cudi's tweets during a performance on his Saint Pablo Tour, saying, "Kid Cudi, don't ever mention Ye name. I birthed you." But after Cudi's announcement, Kanye has been more supportive. In another recent performance, he asked the crowd to sing "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1" in honor of Cudi, who is featured on the song.
Even though Kanye is credited as a collaborator on the song, details are still unclear. We don't know if he contributed to the lyric dissing Cudi, or if he even knew about that lyric at all. We also don't know if the song was recorded before or after Cudi's announcement. Kanye and Drake have been in the studio together working on an as-yet-untitled collaborative project. But with Kanye's dedication to Cudi on the Saint Pablo Tour, it seems like he has his former G.O.O.D. Music compadre's back - even if Drake has other plans.
