Kelis To Publish New Cookbook 'My Life On A Plate'
Kelis's passion for food and cooking is being made into a new literary volume. The R&B singer will publish a cookbook entitled My Life On A Plate: Recipes From Around The World, treating readers and amateur sous chefs to 192 pages of ideas and instructions on how to make a multitude of meals. It's the product of Kelis's personal love affair with food, which began during her childhood years helping her mother's Harlem catering business and only intensified as she later travelled the world as a recording artist.
Those years on the road, in the presence of outdoor markets and delicious new cuisines, inspired Kelis to attend Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and gather a personal repertoire of recipes that could stand proudly next to her music catalog. "My Life On A Plate is my first cookbook, and like the title says, it really is a reflection of my life through food. It includes my version of recipes I grew up eating and things I've picked up that have inspired me along the way," Kelis said in a press release. "It's an exploration of tastes and cultures, and my experience as a chef, musician, mother and wife. It's a lifestyle, and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you."
The book will include recipes for Puerto Rican favorites including Shrimp Alcapurias, Malay Curry Chicken and Swedish Meatballs (no word on any Milkshake recipes, though). My Life On A Plate will sell for $24.95 and is set to drop on September 28th. You can already pre-order yourself a copy on Amazon.
