Kendrick Lamar Teaches Self-Love w/ New Single "I"
Kendrick Lamar readies us for the anxiously anticipated follow-up to his breakthrough good kid mAAd city LP with the release of the plenty soulful new single "I." K Dot puts on another brilliant narrative spinning performance, warning youngins of the perils of that street life over a blazing chop of The Isley Brothers' "That Lady." No one but the self-crowned king of NY could hop in and out of that sing-song delivery, making for a track that's half passionate plea for the future (and overall sanity) of our nation's youth and half sermon on the spiritual benefits of self-love.
Lamar's gkmc was no doubt a beacon of contemporary rhymesaying and lush, intricate production and it doesn't seem that it will have been his last exposition. While there hasn't been word on any sort of roll-out plan (other than the announcement of this single dropping last week) it does appear that we can officially get excited about a new piece from the sultan of TDE's knee-deep roster of mic-slayers. Go ahead and get reacquainted with good ole Kendrick and his latest single "I" below. Be sure to keep it locked as the Top Dawg crew readies themselves for another insta-classic.
