The annual fete from Hot 97 also featured a surprise set from Papoose, whose presence on stage was reportedly the fault of Peter Rosenberg - at least according to Ebro. Kendrick Lamar lit up the stage despite the rain dampening the arena. K. Dot hit the stage with his Black Hippy cohorts Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q. The night also included a duet from Miguel and Mariah Carey, who hit the stage together at MetLife Stadium to perform their single "#Beautiful." The banner event of the evening, however, was the aforementioned appearance from Papoose. The Brooklyn MC hopped onstage a few minutes before Kendrick Lamar's set ended to perform "Get At Me" from his debut LP Nacirema Dream. The impromptu performance angered Ebro, who reportedly had no idea that anything was going to go awry. He took to the radio to express his feelings about the incident and address Rosenberg, who had apparently been tipped off about the change of plans the night before.
