The stars aligned in a perfectly purple way last night, as Prince brought out Kendrick Lamar to perform with him and his trio of funk-fortified ladies 3rdEyeGirl at last night's live streaming album release party for his double release Art Official Age and Plectrum Electrum LPs at Paisley Park. While we had known all along that K Dot would be attending the evening's celebrations at the house that Prince built, the TDE validator and the Purple Architect colliding on one neon-lit stage is some bucket-list type ish. We should have known that we weren't the only ones teeming with excitement for Lamar's next effort after that heavy dose of vintage soul he dropped on his latest single "i."
Admittedly, the clip below is criminally short. However, it does give you a quick peek at the madness that tends to unfold at the compound. Kendrick delivering his raspy and emotive verbal over the 3rdEyeGirl's champion funk chops (while His Majesty calls out the hits) is simply something that must be seen and heard. There's no word yet on whether the Compton bomber will officially land on a Mr. Nelson track, but here's to hoping the stars align once more.
