Killer Mike & El-P Raise $10,000 For 'Meow The Jewels' - Their Cat Sounds Remix Of The Critically-Acclaimed 'Run The Jewels' LP.
With close to one month to go, the Meow The Jewels campaign has raised over $10,000 toward the 40K price tag attached to the cat sounds remix of Killer Mike and El-P's forthcoming Run The Jewels 2 LP, due out October 27th. The campaign launched by one of their fans has already garnered the support of El-P, who has pledged to donate his portion of the proceeds from the sale of the project to charity. Killer Mike is reportedly still in talks with the folks running the campaign but has noted that he intends to donate any potential earnings from the project to a fund that will benefit the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown, both of whom were slain by police in recent months. The Kickstarter campaign page breaks down the specifics behind the fundraising effort and details exactly how the money be allotted to cover production costs and payment of the MC's:
