Kool & The Gang, Pharrell, Dick Gregory, Ennio Morricone and a slew of the entertainment industry's finest are getting ready to receive the Star Walk treatment as their names are next to be added to Hollywood's Walk Of Fame. The honors are extended on a yearly basis to the biggest names in various categories of the industry, including TV, Film, Music and live performance. From the talk box we get the supreme comedic talents of Will Ferrel, Seth McFarlane, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler and the aforementioned irreverent wordsmith Gregory.
The music sector contributes the foundational Jersey City funk troupe and kings of kool, as well as two perennial hit-makers in Williams and Dr. Luke, but let us not forget the man who invented the spaghetti Western score, none other than Morricone (who performed with a 200+ member orchestra earlier this year in BK of all places.) And finally, from the silver screen, Peter Jackson, Paul Rudd, Christopher Waltz, Jennifer Garner, Daniel Radcliffe and Eugenio Derbez. All of which seem ripe for their star in the ground, but it is curious how Kool & The Gang could be slept on til 30 years after Emergency, after being sampled by everyone from J Dilla to DJ Premier to EPMD to RZA to anyone who knows anything about the chop. Good work often goes unthanked, but it seems the gang will finally have their day.
