Large Professor Shares His Top 5 Producers Of All Time On "Sway In The Morning"
"You gotta give it up for the ones that have never let the culture down...the ones that introduced gems into the world and we've all benefitted from it." With these auspicious words of praise, Sway Calloway introduced the one and only Large Professor to his "Sway In The Morning" radio program, kicking off what became a nostalgic 18 minute chat on some of the most amazing moments lived and tracks made in all of hip-hop history. Large Professor was there, to some extent, promoting the release of his excellent new LP Re:Living-an album that LargePro is "spiritually pleased with"--and was sure to mention it often, but it only took a matter of minutes for the two seasoned rap vets to dispense with the present and trade memories of the golden era. Rest assured: there are plenty of savory Nas and Rakim tidbits.
Sway and Large Professor both traded comments on the "quick-fix" modern day society we live in today, championing the importance of striving toward timeless creative works. But perhaps the most exciting topic the two touched on was the classic "Top 5" question. Which hip-hop beatmakers are in Large Professor's top 5? "The 45 King, Easy Mo Bee, Marley Marl, Rick Rubin and DJ Premier. And Pete Rock!" Extra P noted, sounding resolute in his choices, sneaking in six for the price of five. We're surely not about to argue with him.
