Lauryn Hill Covers The Beatles Live On Letterman
Lauryn Hill stopped by the Late Show to help close out Beatles week with a cover of the group's 1969 hit "Something" live from the Ed Sullivan Theater. The 5-day performance series included performances from Broken Bells, Sting, Flaming Lips and Lenny Kravitz. Lauryn Hill's appearance - her first televised performance in three years - coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' groundbreaking performance on the same stage during The Ed Sullivan Show. Lauryn performed backed by her full band, including DJ Rampage - a friend of the LargeUp family:
LargeUp regulars may know DJ Rampage as a purveyor of fine reggae mixtapes and selector on our radio program The LargeUp Sessions, but our bredrin has been holding down Lauryn Hill as her tour DJ for the nearly five years. With Lauryn gearing up to release her first new studio album in over a decade and a half, Letters to Exile, Rampage has been making some high-profile appearances alongside Ms. Hill, including her first televised performance in three years Friday night on David Letterman.
