Lee "Scratch" Perry and his work have been able to stand the test of time. From producing with everyone from Bob Marley & The Wailers to Major Lazer, Perry has been a key player in the evolution of dub music. Not only is Lee "Scratch" Perry one of the most captivating human beings to ever walk planet earth, he's probably one of the most creative outside our stratosphere as well. The dubsetter's latest work is a song called "Jesus Is A Soul Man" produced by Clams Casino. Casino's production is mystifying and bassy with a dub rhythm that compliments Perry's poetic preachings of the soul man - Jesus Christ. The performer says the lyrics "When Jesus in the mix, everything is perfect" with a passionate swoon that has a resonant echo.

The song exists as part of the Upsetter Bundle which includes a trailer for the 2008 documentary The Upsetter: The Life and Music of Lee "Scratch" Perry directed by Ethan Higbee and Adam Bhala Lough and narrated by actor Benicio Del Toro (The Usual Suspects, Traffic). The documentary about the visionary soul man chronicles over 50 years of performance and production that has hypnotized local and international audiences. The bundle also includes behind the scenes footage and art by Perry plus commentary from Junior Murvin, Bob Marley, Paul McCartney, Joe Strummer and the Beastie Boys. The always eccentric, innovative and legendary Lee "Scratch" Perry is showing us all that his connection with music is strong no matter what era he makes it in. Stream "Jesus Is A Soul Man" below and check out Perry dropping some knowledge with Red Bull Music Academy.
