Lil Wayne, Hot Boys Reunite At LeBron James-Hosted Beats By Dre Party
A classic photo of the Hot Boys: Young Turk, Juvenile, B.G. and Lil Wayne
LeBron James is the best basketball player in the world, but he's putting together a little rap resume too. First, he convinced Top Dawg to release Kendrick Lamar'suntitled. unmastered., and this weekend he helped reuniteLil Wayne and the Hot Boys, the Cash Money Records crew he came up with.
James hosted a Beats By Dre party in New Orleans, where NBA All-Star festivities were taking place all weekend. Lil Wayne took the stage with Mannie Fresh, and two of the original Hot Boys, Juvenile and Young Turk. They performed Cash Money classics like Big Tymers' "Go DJ," Wayne's "Go DJ," Juvenile's "Set It Off," and others.
\u201cthx to every single 1 of my bros that blessed the stage w me & turned a show to a movie I luv y'all!\u201d— Lil Wayne WEEZY F (@Lil Wayne WEEZY F) 1487497987
It couldn't quite be a full reunion, since B.G. is in prison and Birdman has a legal dispute with Wayne, but it wasn't any less nostalgic for old school Cash Money Records fans. It is especially fitting with this year's All-Star Weekend being in New Orleans since that's where Cash Money was founded in the early 1990s.
James' excitement and nostalgia likely mirrored any other classic Cash Money fans.
"I don't know if these people fully appreciate what's going on tonight. Yo, we got mothafuckin' Hot Boys in this mothafuckaright now," James said, Complex reports. "...I grew up on these boys right here."
