Lykke Li has been spoiling us with swells of sadness from her new LP I Never Learn set to drop on May 5th. The old school pop-poet is in touch with her deepest regrets and it is clear in her latest release "Gunshot." Lykke Li has always emphasized how important writing and storytelling is to her and that explains the unconventional way she's been sharing her latest singles. Lykke Li posts the lyrics as an entire page on tumblr, with no streaming link or buttons (except the word "Print" giving fans a way to physically hold her words) - the song will just start playing, giving us no control over when it stops or starts. The way Lykke Li presents her work feels very authentic and we can say no less about the lyrics of "Gunshot."

"I am longing for your poison/Like a cancer for its prey/Shot an arrow, in your harbor/Where you waited in the rain... And the shot goes through my head and back/Gunshot, I can't take it back/My heart cracked, really loved you bad/Gunshot, I'll never get you back" - Excerpt from "Gunshot" by Lykke Li

Along with the official audio, today, Lykke Li released a live acoustic version of "Gunshot" exclusively through H&M Life. The song cuts even deeper when performed live - Lykke Li's vocals have a tone of longing that's undeniable. As the percussive acoustics begin all we see is Li's face drawing nearer to the mic when she starts singing we are instantly brought into her story and inevitably our own. By the end of the video the singer is drowned in a red tint that feels eerily symbolic.  If you want to feel something, I recommend you head over to Lykke Li's tumblr page for endless and uncontrollable streaming of "Gunshot."
