Macklemore x The Real Late Sessions With Peter Rosenberg

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Macklemore paid a visit to The Real Late Sessions with Peter Rosenberg to drop a freestyle over the beat for "Triumph" - the late 90s Wu-Tang classic. A fan of the Staten Island crew, Macklemore took the occasion to blaze the track with a pretty personal set of lyrics that detailed his recent ascent to the top of the charts - a rise fueled by the success of his singles "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us." His multi-platinum tracks and crossover appeal may have fooled a few people into believing that Macklemore could never compete with heavyweight MCs. That would be the wrong assumption to make. Full of surprises - as if his knack for jazz piano and his crowd-walking skills weren't enough - Macklemore is all over the RZA production with an autobiographical manifesto that goes back to his backpack roots and takes a magnifying glass to the breadth of his talents. Sure he's a rapper with huge party tracks, but Macklemore is also an obvious student of hip-hop. Check the footage below for the full freestyle from Macklemore on The Real Late Sessions with Peter Rosenberg.
