Madlib Drops Soulful Instrumental "Cue 4" + Announces 'The Beats' LP
Madlib's got some new(ish) funk in store for the heads. The sonic scientist dropped a soul-strutting instrumental cut with "Cue 4," announcing that his score for Stones Throw's seismic Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton documentary will drop on the for of The Beats LP on September 9th. The track holds true to the Konducta's legacy with a hardy, funked-out vintage-soul chop, laced with bright sitar and horn licks over a stupid slick shuffle for your head or your feet to move to.
"Cue 4" will join nine others on the film's soundtrack, all never-heards from Lib's "not just knee-deep" back catalogue of audible gold. The Beats comes as a quick follow-up to the sequel to his Rock Konducta series and "Cue 6," this new batch's very first offering a few months back (not to mention his insta-classic collaboration with Freddie Gibbs on Pinata.) The album will be available both digitally and pressed to a 10-inch LP; a necessary purchase for the true-schooler in ya. You can find all of these treats over at the Stones Throw shop today, so be sure to cop. Get ready for a new batch from the legend with "Cue 4" below and keep it tuned to the OKP realm.
