Malikah Shabazz was 56.

Malikah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X, was found dead in her Brooklyn home on Monday.

In a report from ABC7, Shabazz's daughter found her mother inside her home on East 28th Street. The report also noted that the death does not appear suspicious. A separate report from CNN said that the death appears to be because of natural causes, according to police. Shabazz is the youngest of Malcolm X's six daughters.

A number of people reacted to the news of Shabazz's death, including Bernice King, one of Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughters.

"I'm deeply saddened by the death of #MalikahShabazz. My heart goes out to her family, the descendants of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X. Dr. Shabazz was pregnant with Malikah and her twin sister, Malaak, when Brother Malcolm was assassinated. Be at peace, Malikah," King wrote on twitter.

The news of Shabazz's death comes after the recent exoneration of Muhammad Aziz and Khalil Islam in the assassination of Malcolm X. The two were exonerated Thursday (November 18) after an almost two-year-long re-investigation. In a report from the New York Times, the investigation found that prosecutors, as well as the FBI and NYPD, had withheld important evidence that likely would've led to the acquittal of both Aziz and Islam. The two men spent a combined 42 years in prison, with years in solitary confinement between them, according to the Times. Only Aziz is still alive; the 83-year-old was present in court when the conviction was dismissed. Islam passed away back in 2009.
