Mapei x Chance The Rapper & The Social Experiment- "Don't Wait" (Remix)
The resurgent intercontinental songstress Mapei tapped Chance The Rapper & The Social Experiment for the remix of her minimalist R&B head-bopper "Don't Wait." While the track opens up with twangy hallowed power chords, when Mapei comes in with those powerful croons--layered over a vocoder--its pure bliss. The track boasts big swooping synthesizers and Brazilian baile funk drums just under the mix, bringing this track around the world and back, in a manner similar to Mapei herself, who was born in Rhode Island and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. Chance comes through about midway in to drop his own patented croon after the supreme hook.
The track hints at a markable change in direction for Mapei, whose first EP The Cocoa Butter Diaries had her as a featured MC, as opposed to the wonderfully soulful with a gentle rasp we have in front of us today. But what a difference 5 years can make, as an artist who recorded to completion an album with francofunk machines Justice, but scrapped it because she wasn't feeling the chemistry on the tracks. All I can say is that a woman who turns down the opportunity to to have her name attached to one of the most coveted concert tickets in the world because she wasn't feeling it, is A-OK in my book. So without further adieu, go peep this new flame from Mapei and Chance The Rapper below, but be sure to check back. We'll have more on Mapei soon.
