OKP News: Maxwell, Jill Scott & More To Perform At Essence Music Festival 2013
After D'Angelo's comeback at last year's show, the New Orlean's Essence Music Festival 2013 will mark the return of falsetto crooner Maxwell to the stage. Having had to cancel his last comeback tour due to vocal hemorrhaging, Maxwell's performance will also highlight his fifth studio album, SUMMERS, expected to drop later this year. Along with the neo-soul singer, Brandy, Keyshia Cole and Jill Scott are expected to take the stage. As the 19th annual celebration of black music and culture, the festival will be held from July 4-7 at the Superdome and nearby convention center, where speakers like Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. John Lewis are set to give lectures. The festival will also include performers like New Edition, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Les Nubians, and Blackstreet among others.
So while you wait for this incredible show to arrive, sit back and take a listen to the latest tease from Maxwell, a snippet from a track titled "Gods" off the upcoming SUMMERS album. As per usual with the soul singer, it doesn't take much listening to get us hooked and wanting more. And just to up the ante, Maxwell continues to tease us with a partial tracklist from the album. Dive into the 40 seconds of bliss below and stay tuned for more info on SUMMERS as we all anxiously await for its arrival.
