Megan Thee Stallion Talks Pimp C, Her First Show & More with Nardwuar

The Houston rapper chats about her first freestyle and also gets gifted coveted items.

Megan Thee Stallion gets the official Nardwuar interview treatment in his latest clip live from the Day N Vegas music festival. In the beginning of the video, Nardwuar gifts the Houston artist a T-shirt featuring her favorite rapper of all time, Pimp C, one half of UGK.

To kick off chatting about her music career, he asked Megan Thee Stallion who her first friend was that encouraged her to freestyle, she answers that his name was Jay. He follows this question by gifting her a Ladies of Gangster Rap CD. The CD features Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, and Gangster Boo of Three Six Mafia.

Later on in the clip, he asks her questions about her first-ever show at the Dirty Dog, a bar in Austin, Texas. She shares that she didn't twerk a lot, she simply just rapped. She also notes that at shows in the past bras and boxers have been thrown on her, but not at her first show.

Before the video interview wraps, Nardwuar gifts Megan another coveted item, a book entitled Houston Rap Tapes: An Oral History of Bayou City Hip Hop. The book was published in 2018 and written by journalist Lance Scott Walker.  When asked about the old rappers and producers, she shares that DJ Screw is a favorite of hers and also notes that she has big shoes to fill.

This interview comes months after Nardwuar was honored with his own day in Vancouver.
