Meshell Ndegeocello Covers Whodini's "Friends" + Announces US And International Tour Dates
Meshell Ndegeocello comes through with a proper rework of Whodini's classic "Friends," the first single off her upcoming 11th studio album Comet, Come To Me. The bass-toting sage strips the track of its electronic embellishments, letting their classic breathe through her own jazzy-funk. Gone are the heavy drum-machines and clean arpeggiated synth licks, supplanted by a shuffling live drum take, cascading guitars, murky organic keys and MN's patented low-end thump. Ndegeocello's got a whole lot in the works with her next album's release just around the corner and some tour dates lined up to support the drop. You can preorder Comet, Come To Me on her site ahead of its June 3rd drop, listen to her stellar cover of Whodini's "Friends" below and peep the dates after the jump to see when she'll be making her way to a stage near you.
