'Daily Show' Correspondent Michael Che Joins SNL's Weekend Update

Michael Che has landed himself in one of the chairs on SNL's Weekend Update, taking over for Cecily Strong in the show's upcoming 40th season. And rightfully so. He's been writing for the NBC's flagship late-night sketch show for a year now and is likely the comedic mind is behind some of your favorites, spearheading the program's recent resurgence. He will also be the nearly 40 year-old program's very first black correspondent, following up an amazing run on The Daily Show (perhaps the most hard-hitting and talented writing staff in late-night programming.)

Put one up for your man and wish him a congratulations over on Twitter. SNL's 40th season jumps off on September 27th with Chris Pratt as host and Ariana Grande providing the musical stylings for the evening. Get familiar with Michael Che and his absolutely brilliant and biting sketch from The Daily Show a few weeks back, commenting on the Ferguson mayhem and the inevitable (and aptly named) "Race Off" below.
