Musiq Soulchild x Stwo - "Just Friends" Gets A Mashup From Duncan Gerow

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Musiq Soulchild's classic record "Just Friends" gets morphed into up-and-coming Parisian producer/DJ Stwo's "Wifey" in this fusion from soundcloud mashup guru Duncan Gerow. "Just Friends" is the first single from Musiq Soulchild's 2000 debut album "Aijuswanaseing", the same album that begat the early 2000s r&b romance anthems "Love" and "Girl Next Door." Stwo released his first EP, "Beyond" last year,  and his remixes of some of the year's biggest club records--like Ty Dolla $ign's "Or Nah", Trey Songz' "nana", and the frostbite Drizzy's "All Me"-- have received much European love. "Wifey" is Stwo's futuristic "love-struck" electronic take on the Next classic hit. Alaskan mashup prince Gerow has over 200 blends in his catalogue and a substantially weighty following--his lastest mix of Ciara's "Overdose" and IAMNOBODI's "Bubble Bath Dreams" has recieved over 419k hits. This time Gerow's product is a track more suave than the original--if the original just wasn't chill enough for you--but is equally as groovy. The Soulchild's original melody rides in the pocket of Stwo's track and "Wifey" compliments all of the original sweet spots. You don't even notice that it's a mash up really, it sounds more like a very well done "Just Friends" acoustic arrangement. Check out the theoretical collaboration below.
