Nas Drops J Dilla-Produced Gem "The Season" [CDQ]
Hold up. If anyone thought that Nasty Nas was sleeping on the GOAT J Dilla all these years, you're dead wrong. Last night at the release party for Killer Mike & El-P's seismic Run The Jewels sequel, the Mass Appeal head-honcho took the stage after a fitting screening of cult classic gang flick The Warriors, which set the mood perfectly for the unveiling of "The Season." Those familiar with the MP champion's work will instantly recall that Nasir's tapping into the dastardly string-driven joint known to us all as "Gobstopper" which was prominently featured on his final piece Donuts.
If nothing else can be said, it's at least one of his best verbal routines we've heard in a minute, dispelling any rumors of Jay Electronica or Jay Z writing his rhymes and putting one up for his brother Jabari, who I've long claimed deserves his own Jabari Jungle Jones documentary. There's no telling whether the posthumous collaboration will ever see the light of day on a proper release, but a man can dream. Can't he? Go ahead and watch Nas blow the dust off his J Dilla helmed "The Season" and once you've had the pleasure of taking in the moment, peep the full, unfettered clip down below.
