New Surveillance Video Shows Kenneka Jenkins Entering Freezer Alone

The video shows Jenkins, 19, in an apparently disoriented manner, wandering around the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel alone.
Chicago community activists made explosive comments about the surveillance video from a hotel that shows the late Kenneka Jenkins entering into a walk-in freezer alone. Andrew Holmes, who has worked as an anti-violence activist, told the Chicago Tribune that Rosemont hotel detectives showed him the video Wednesday.
Jenkins, 19, is seen waiting in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel after her friends apparently went up to the room to retrieve some possessions. She then can be seen taking an elevator to a lower level, where she wanders around, opening doors in an apparently disoriented manner, according to Holmes. Finally, Jenkins opens two doors in a kitchen area and enters the walk-in freezer. The doors close behind her and Jenkins is seen no more.

Convinced that no one forced the teenager into the area where she was found dead. The family is awaiting toxicology tests to be better informed on whether drugs had been put into her drink. “The important part is we all wanted to know: Did anybody call her down there?” Holmes said. “Did anybody force her down there? Was there anybody on the other side of the room when she got down there? And the answer to that is no.”
Speculation grew from the moment word of her passing was released that the Chicago teen was murdered. Those theories have been debunked as of now, as Holmes said those comments were “just something they made up on social media.” Rosemont police spokesman Det. Joe Balogh did not answer directly whether or not Holmes had been shown the video, but expressed appreciation for Holmes’ assistance.
However, Jenkins' family say they have been misrepresented by Holmes, with Jenkins' mother, Teresa Martin, claiming that Holmes called her and encouraged her to get protesters to stop protesting in front of the hotel because it was losing money in a Facebook Live video.
Martin then appeared at a protest later where she stated that the information given by Holmes was not true.
"He came out of the blue and acting...like he was a friend," Martin said about one of the activists, although the Tribune didn't specify whether she was referring to Holmes or not. "But he calls me this morning and says, 'Oh the hotel is not making any money. I think you need to go online and stop the protest.'"
Chicago news channel WGN9 recently released a story where a source claimed that the freezer that Jenkins was found in did not have a lock but did have a mechanism to open the door from the inside. If this is actually the case, this would dispel initial reports that the teenager locked herself in the freezer.
Friday afternoon, Rosemont police released new surveillance video showing Jenkins stumbling throughout the hotel before eventually ending up in the kitchen. However, the video does not capture her going into the freezer.
