Celebrate Miss Simone With The Early LP Stream Of 'Nina Revisited'

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

The last month has seen a great many pieces from Nina Revisited...A Tribute to Nina Simone make their way online, from Lauryn Hill's captivating take on "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair" to Jazmine Sullivan and Usher's own turns on her classic material. In truth, almost half the album has already been released, leaked or teased for wanting audiences, but now the entire LP has been made available for full streaming, thanks to thegenerosity of NPR's First Listen.

Writing early words of praise for Nina Revisited, the radio service was keen to acknowledge the album's production team of Robert Glasper, Jayson Jackson, Suzette Williams and Peter Edge. It's album that "at times feels rightfully nostalgic, at other moments profoundly contemporary," NPR wrote. "Its diverse mix of voices sometimes veers towards the unwieldy and inconsistent and, depending on which artist and on which song, gets close to the spirit of Simone herself." The album's early stream also coincides with this weekend's release of the Netflix-produced documentary film What Happened, Miss Simone?, which thoroughly investigates the soul legend's politics, process, brilliance and inner demons.

Stream the advance listen below courtesy of NPR and pre-order yourself a copy of Nina...Revisited on iTunes today so that when the time comes (July 10th, that is), you can enjoy it whenever and wherever you please.
