OKP TV: Okayplayer Celebrates 15 Years At SummerStage Central Park [Recap]

OKP TV Recaps Okayplayer's Five Concert Series At Central Park SummerStage Featuring A Stellar Roster Of Acts.

Summer is over. Here is how Okayplayer spent ours, with a five part Summer concert series at SummerStage Central Park in celebration of our 15th anniversary featuring a stellar roster of acts. From July 13th to August 16th, the Okayplayer family rocked the house with sold out shows from Okayfuture, Okayafrica, LargeUp and REVIVE. Okayafrica kicked off the series with an electric pair of sets from South African DJs Black Coffee and DJ Spoko. Bonobo finished up the North American leg of his North Borders tour where he had supporting acts Cibo Matto and Odesza who together brought the future to the stage. LargeUp and Federation Sound's Rice and Peas Party came to life in the park while the legendary Junior Reid and roots and culture phenom Chronixx & The Zincfence Redemption came through to mash up di place. Revive followed with a massive sound experience in celebration of Blue Note's 75th Anniversary with performances from Gregory Porter and the Revive Big Band lead by Igmar Thomas. Okayplayer rounded out the series with Blood Orange, Moses Sumney and Sean Nicholas Savagekilling them softly at our massive closing fete. While the fall chill is more than enough reason to rewind the summer, five successful shows and fifteen years of groundbreaking musical moments seem like an even better excuse to celebrate all over again. Let's take a sec to look back at our amazing run this summer as we look forward to SummerStage 2015. Check out the footage below to view the official recap of Okayplayer's summer 2014 concert series. Much love and thanks to SummerStage (like them on Facebook, follow on Twitter) and for everyone who was involved and to all who attended!
