According to deadline, John Legend will replace Lionel Richie as one of the four music mentors on ABC's new series Duets, after Richie pulled out due to scheduling conflicts. Legend will join fellow-mentors Robin Thicke, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Nettles on a cross-country search for undiscovered singers to join them as duet partners. The vocalist pairs will compete for the first prize--a recording contract with Hollywood Records for the aspiring singer. The show is slated to premiere on May 24th and features Quddus as the main host. It's unclear for now whether this will effect the future of the Live With John Legend special, which--as we reported-- Showtime has been considering for development into a regular series.
