OKP Premiere: Decap And Brady Watt - "DRT" (feat. J. Ivy)
Okayplayer is proud to present another astral addition to NYC's lush history of beatsmiths with the premiere and introduction of local production duo Decap And Brady Watt's "DRT" featuring a few words from Def Poetry All-Star J. Ivy. This thing is dripping in some of the deepest, most atmospheric funk I've come across in some time. Its a an air-tight, creeping groove that gets almost instant stank face certification; an intricate beast of an instrumental that blends the organic heat of D'angelo & RH Factor's cut "Bullshit" and the more worked shine of Prince's "She's Always In My Hair" into one exquisite romp of airy synths, heavy swing and sublime half-church/all-funk guitar chops.
The duo consists of veiled producer-type Decap and the low-end stylings of local bass sage and multi-instrumentalist Brady Watt whose recent resumé includes backing Talib Kweliand next local to blow Olamide Faison. This tandem of bass-man and sonic sculptor has already notched the aforementioned BK MC, Big K.R.I.T., Curren$y, Smoke DZA and Ro James on to their collective belts and with their forth coming debut record Qi just around the corner, there's plenty to get excited about. So rock with the latest from Decap And Brady Watt below and be sure to cop their debut when it drops April 14. We'll have plenty more on these young guns soon.
