ATLiens rejoice! The juggernauts of southern funk Outkast are starting the year off in a fit of a gratitude, adding 40 (yes, four- zero) festival dates to their 2014 resurgence. The tandem announced today that they're taking to the road in the new year to let the fans know "stank you smelly much" for 2o years of holding down the funk. Announced through a pair of statements from each respective component, Andre 3000 proclaimed his appreciation:
"“And imagine, all we wanted to do was rap! I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting Outkast.”
Big Boi added:
“It’s truly an honor to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose. Don’t just think outside the box, know that there is no box. I’m looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans – stank you smelly much, this is for y’all!”
The tour marks 20 years since their debut groundbreaker Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik hit the the shelves and redefined expectations of the South's contribution to our most high tradition, opening the flood gates for what is now one of the most pervasive hubs for hip-hop and R&B in the country. The tour embellishes upon the two previously announced tour dates headlining Coachella and Governor's Ball. Keep your ears to the ground, we'll have more on the tour as dates are announced in the coming weeks.
