A couple of weeks ago, Eddie Murphey's Twitter account tweeted out a question asking folks if they wanted a Coming to America sequel. The overwhelming response to this tweet was yes.

And then Eddie Murphey's daughter Bria Murphy killed everyone's dream. She IG'd a screenshot of a convo she had with her dad. Murphey had no idea he had a Twitter account — despite the fact that the account was verified — and the rumor got put to rest. (The Twitter account which tweeted the question was deleted shortly afterward.)

Not so fast.

Now news sources are confirming that the sequel is actually in the early stages of development. According to Entertainment Weekly, Paramount Pictures has hired Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, the writers of the original, to pen the sequel.

It's unclear if Eddie Murphey or John Landis, the man who directed the original, will have any role in the sequel.

All we know is that we're here for it.
