Michael K. Williams Will Star as Miles Davis in Upcoming Biopic
Michael K. Williams' forthcoming film roles are rounding out nicely. Just last month, it was announced that the Brooklyn-born big and small screen star landed a role in the feverishly-anticipated Star Wars anthology film alongside Donald Glover (our new Lando.) But Hans Solo and galaxies far, far away are only the first of quite a few frontiers for the actor.
In a new interview with London's Mr. Exposed, Williams discussed his affinity for grime, specifically talents from the neighborhood of Croydon, noting UK hip-hop's evolution in the years since Williams frequented English capital as a back-up dancer. The chat turns its eye to the future in its tail-end, with Williams waxing optimistic over his upcoming role as jazz giant Miles Davis in a biopic treatment of the legend's life. He insists that if all goes according to plan (read: Hollywood gets out of its own way) production should begin at the top of 2018.
No title or release information has been revealed just yet, but Omar as the raspy-voiced pioneer that sent shivers down even Prince's spine is about as good a casting choice as we could dream up.
