PBS precedes All Is By My Side - the forthcoming Andre 3000 biopic - with a documentary about rock icon Jimi Hendrix entitled Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin. The film from PBS' American Masters series and director Bob Smeaton combines previously unseen footage of the late rocker with his own commentary, performances and interviews for a year-long celebration of Hendrix on what would have been his 70th birthday. Legacy Recordings and Experience Hendrix have teamed to release the film on DVD and Blu-Ray with special features and performance footage. The release of the collector's edition is timed to coincide with the documentary's public television debut. An 11-track album will accompany the documentary, featuring a 1968 recording of a Hendrix performance at the Miami Pop Festival that had previously been unavailable to fans. The entire package arrives on November 5th. Check your local listings for documentary broadcast times. Check the footage below to watch the PBS documentary trailer.
