Pete Rock Dives Deep Into The "Cosmic Slop" w/ New 'Petestrumentals II' Single
For beat junkies far and wide, news of another installment in Pete Rock's Petestrumental series is a sonic blessing. After hinting at the project in a candid interview with Dart Adams, PR made good on his promise, dropping the lead-off joint from the album just last month. And today, we've got the follow-up in the spacey and synthy heat of "Cosmic Slop." But this is far from the P-Funk anthem many of us know and love. Pete Rock's brand of slop may indeed be from the mothership, but charts a different course in another galaxy altogether. The Soul Brother's new cut is laced with swarms of tinny synthesizers, a buzzing low and glitzy highs; all making for one tasty piece of ear candy, ripe for the evening's haziest of moments. The long-awaited Petestrumental II is slated for a June 23rd release via Mello Music Group with no features; just Mount Vernon's musical menace doing what he does so damn well. You can stream Pete Rock's spin on "Cosmic Slop" below via Spotify (with the Soundcloud link to follow later today.) Preorder the new record on iTunes today and stay tuned for the next episode.
