Read A Book: Pharrell Will Release A "Happy" Book Series For Kids

It seems that "Happy" will never, ever leave us. Pharrell has reportedly inked a deal with the Penguin-owned publisher Putnam Books for Young Readers to write a series of picture books, the first of which will be based on his Grammy-winning mega-hit.

Happy, the book, will include photos of children from around the world being, well, happy. The book hits stores on September 22 with a first run printing of 250,000 copies.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Pharrell said “I’m humbled by the global success of ‘Happy,’ but especially in awe of the song’s young fans." The singer/producer continued: “My collaboration with Penguin allows me to continue a dialogue with these children in a fresh, new way. We’re both committed to feeding the curiosity of young minds with imagination.”

Pharrell's next musical release will be, by all indications, not so kid-friendly. His collaborative album with Snoop Dogg, which tentatively bears the title Bush, is set to hit racks next month. Also, one has to wonder whether the deal was inked before or after Pharrell recreated "Happy" as a dark, police brutality-protesting spectacle at the 2015 Grammys--a performance which seemed to signal that the song had fully run its course in pop culture. Still, with its unflinching, 100% positive message, the Despicable Me 2 song seems set to conquer yet another medium. The appeal of "Happy" truly seems like a room without a roof
