Phony PPL Explore The Nature Of Young Love In A Heartwarming Clip For "helGa"
Brooklyn's premier hip-hop & soul upstart Phony PPL, have lifted heads and hearts alike with the release of their exceptionally ill Yesterday's Tomorrow LP, which is still getting plenty of burn 'round these parts. The album has seen a slew of supporting releases, including the slightly faded, all-the way organic r&b steez of their lead-off single "Why iii Love The Moon" and their ode to women far and wide with "Baby, Meet My Lover." But now the BK five-piece is gracing us with a heartfelt exploration of blossoming love in the video for their latest single "helGa."
Perhaps some of you are '80s babies that grew up holding Hey Arnold! as the cornerstone to your post-school-day programming. Well, this breezy Beatles-esque number channels the prepubescent angst of young infatuation (named after the show's emotionally unstable love interest/antagonist Helga Petaki) and finds those sentiments mirrored perfectly in a lush, partly animated clip, directed by Yash Xana. If you've yet to cop their Yesterday's Tomorrow LP, we advise you to do so stat. Watch as two youngins contemplate their love for one another in the video for Phony PPL's "helGa" below.
