Playboi Carti Arrested For Allegedly Choking His Pregnant Girlfriend

Rapper Playboi Carti has been arrested for an incident stemming from December, where he allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend.

Rapper Playboi Carti has been arrested in Georgia, nearly two months after allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend during an argument. TMZ has reported that the 26-year-old artist, real name Jordan Terrell Carter, was booked on charges of felony aggravated assault and obstructing a person making an emergency telephone call, per online records.

On December 20, Carter's girlfriend, who was 20 weeks pregnant at the time, told police that she and the Whole Lotta Red artist were arguing about a paternity test. During the alleged physical altercation, the woman says Carter grabbed her by the throat, pushing her into bushes, holding her neck until she could barely breathe.

A witness reportedly jumped in to intervene, allowing the woman to escape and run into her car. Carter followed, where he allegedly attacked her again, attempting to pull the woman out of the car and placed his hand over her mouth after she used the 'SOS' feature in the vehicle to contact police. A police report noted that the woman had “visible injuries to her neck, chest, and back area.”

Carter's attorney, Brian Steel, denies any wrongdoing on behalf of the rapper, saying, Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation."

Carter shares a 3-year-old son, Onyx Kelly, with previous girlfriend and rapper Iggy Azalea. At the time of the December 20 incident, Carter had been with his pregnant girlfriend for two years, living together since July 2022.
