Prince x 3rdEyeGirl x The New Power Generation To Play Paisley Park This Saturday
UPDATE: Set-list added at bottom (scroll down)!
His royal purpleness Prince will be playing an impromptu set(s) at his compound, studio and home in Paisley Park. The first come, first serve event is an exclusive opportunity for any fan to breach the protected walls of the purple mecca and peer into the atmosphere that nourishes the 55 year old prolific songwriter and musician, while keeping him performing (and looking) like a man of half his age. Mr. Nelson will be joined on stage by his current trio 3rdEyeGirl and his turn-of-the 90s big band funk project The New PowerGeneration, not to mention some rumored guest spots that could only happen behind the purple walls.
Those familiar with the R&B Jesus are aware of his blatant omission from the public eye and understand that the event marks one of a handful of times the artist has opened his doors to the masses and maybe the first in such a casual manner. Based on the NPG's recent residency at NYC's City Winery where fellow pioneer Larry Graham and even Prince himself graced the stage, the event promises to be the type no purple patron in Minnesota or elsewhere should be missing. If you're in the area and know what's good for you, be sure to be at Paisley Park by 9pm on Saturday with $50 in hand to catch the legend in the year of his resurgence with his cirque du funk.
