Prince Teases 'Plectrumelectrum' LP In NYC For 'New Girl' Crew
If Prince were the type to tease new material at exclusive late-night industry gatherings, we'd all probably be a little frustrated with the great Purple Sage. Oh wait, thats exactly the type of artist he is. After the premiere of his network television debut on New Girl alongside star Zooey Deschanel, Mr. Rogers Nelson convinced a group of his adoring peers to stick around until just after midnight, at which point his new all-lady, no-fuss power trio 3rd Eye Girl took to the stage to describe the experience of working with the majestic purple guru on their forthcoming project Plectrumelectrum. The three masterful ladies of funk cemented something we were already sure was the case; that "the knowledge that you gain spending two seconds with him is limitless."
And so after a bit of a testimonial, whoever was brave enough to man the jukebox --likely the man himself-- played the full cut of "Pretzelbodylogic" the rock-tinged banger we were offered a taste of last week on the trailer for his New Girl appearance and another yet-to-be-heard offering "Funk N Roll." While Prince didn't stick around long--allegedly popping in for about 20 minutes during Doug E. Fresh's DJ set-- he showed his face long enough to give the audience and at least one Rolling Stone reporter something purple to believe in. With so many one-offs from the Paisley Park camp in the last year its hard to imagine we'll ever actually get a full release, but if he keeps rearing his head from behind those Minneapolis compound walls, I think we'll all be thankful sooner or later.
