Q-Tip Appointed As The Kennedy Center's First Artistic Director Of Hip-Hop Culture
Over his nearly thirty-year career, Q-Tip has proven to be as dynamic and eccentric of a musical mind as anyone in the game. He's copiloted one of the most inventive hip-hop groups in the culture's history, stepped out as a formidable solo star and producer in his own right, even strutting his stuff as a DJ in recent years.
His next endeavor, however, will be of an administrative sort, as today it was announced that The Abstract will be taking the reins as the very first Artistic Director Of Hip-Hop Culture at The Kennedy Center and has already designed a program that celebrates each pillar of the tradition, including teach-ins, live remix performances, workshops and plenty more; all aimed at refocusing the American Music narrative on one that emphasizes the importance of hip-hop as the most prevalent and influential form of art on the planet.
Events begin this summer at The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and will run well through the next year. Hit the link below for ticketing information and the full itinerary of programming.
One time for the mighty Q-Tip, spreading knowledge through whatever means necessary.
